I've made a video for it comprising of the opening scene from 'Garden State', here it is. enjoy James x Posted on 2:31pm Monday 7th Mar 2011 Well, it's been a memorable couple of weeks with some of my favourite
bands (Radiohead, Elbow, PJ Harvey) all releasing brand spanking new
albums; and we all know you're waiting with bated breath for our 2nd
effort! But we've decided to keep you all hanging for just that little
bit longer... Fear not, there will be something to look forward to in
the next couple of weeks leading us into our April gig run and then,
once we've road tested a few new tunes and got our act together, the
long player will find its way... so keep your eyes peeled! You can now also follow the band through the tweets of @brokenbroadcast and @gazgrizzo if you're that way inclined. Until April then... ![]() Posted on 8:35am Monday 25th Oct 2010 Find more artists like The Broken Broadcast at Myspace Music Posted on 7:12am Sunday 17th Oct 2010 .... a quote from a recent review from www.thenorthernline.co.uk... "THE BROKEN BROADCAST: Lush melodies, ambient sounds, reminded me a bit of Radiohead……….. it was all going so well until Strawberry Jam!!! The music is great but the lyrics need a severe overhauling!!!" Not sure how shakespearian you can get on a strong about strawberry jam written for a 3 year old. but nevermind. Posted on 9:02am Thursday 14th Oct 2010 Hey up gang, We've got a free gig friday night at the wonderful 'cheap beers' Princess Alice in Middlesbrough. It's that simple. Friday Free Cheap Beer also, you might wanna check out Bear Driver, they're playing the Westgarth on Saturday. Bloomin Brilliant they are Peace, Love and Sleep James Posted on 11:05am Thursday 7th Oct 2010 ... thanks to everyone who's help with the single and gig over the last three weeks, been very enjoyable. Hopefully we'll have an animation to go with it very soon.. Just a reminder we're back at the Westgarth this sunday for the Rock Your Mind Festival. Its about awareness for mental illness and its FREE We'll be on at six, we still have a few singles left too. James Posted on 10:14am Thursday 30th Sep 2010 Hey everyone, we're in the middle of hand making our new strawberry jam CD for the westgarth gig, it'll be 1 english pound and looks very pretty! I think! we've got a little interview here with suitcase orchestra. enjoy James http://www.suitcaseorchestra.com/ Posted on 9:29am Tuesday 21st Sep 2010 Snippet of Strawberry Jam now up >>> http://www.myspace.com/thebrokenbroadcast <<<< It's going to be £1 at the Westgarth Gig. Limited 50. James Posted on 9:07am Saturday 18th Sep 2010 Hey guys, Yesterday we got stuck in a landscape in the north york moors with Richard Doney and recorded a double A-side single thingy. We recorded 'Strawberry Jam' and 'We're just Waiting For Our Friends' and we're putting them out on a limited numbered cdr at our Westgarth Gig with the Miserable Rich and Cattle and Cane More info and stuff soon Love, peace and Red Dead Redemption James Posted on 7:37am Sunday 12th Sep 2010 We're hoping some will be pleased to hear we're recording Strawberry Jam on Friday... Possibly fit another track too. I, for one, can't wait... It'll be the first chance I've had to beat James on the xbox while Emma records all the tracks! It's been sick season in Camp Grizzo for the last week or so but the mandolin has proved a good pick-me-up. Just hope we can control that feedback and get it laid down in time! As for other bandy news, well, it's ticking along nicely. James writes the kind of songs I've been writing in my head for years and Emma speaks fluent drum. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed the jamming and the gigs until this opportunity came along and so far it's been everything I could have hoped for. And more! We're also sick of waiting for Radiohead to pull LP8 out of the studio so I think James is making up for it by writing new songs feverishly. Always a good thing. The studios an exciting escape and we're optimistic for what's to come. I'll stop droning on now... Keep an eye out for more thoughts and news! Griz Posted on 10:59am Monday 6th Sep 2010 For all fellow needs and conspiracy theorists.... Posted on 5:48am Tuesday 31st Aug 2010 The Funeral - Band of Horses Slide Show - Travis Balmy Night - Department of Eagles Nobodys Fault but Mine - Beck Brave Son of America - CW Stoneking My Body is a Cage - Arcade Fire Hi/Lo - Battles Trains and Boats - Stornoway Bear - The Antlers Sirens - Dirty Weekend A few obvious ones to remember but hopefully some you've never heard. pretty sure all these are on youtube in some sorts!!! James Posted on 11:59am Thursday 26th Aug 2010 We've got a secret gig in Hartlepool, Uk on saturday (28th). we'll be on around 9 with some other friends.
If you want to come along its free and we'll be hanging out all night, use the contact us page to know where!
us Posted on 3:34am Friday 13th Aug 2010 Grizz, 29 today!!!
Well done and all that.
James and Em Posted on 1:53am Thursday 12th Aug 2010 hey,
we'll be playing the Rock Your Mind Music Festival in Middlesbrough on 10.10.10, at 6pm at the Westgarth Social club. There'll be bands all over the town so will be a great day.
we'll have a few more gigs before then there fingers crossed.
james Posted on 10:23am Tuesday 10th Aug 2010 Thought i'd just remind everyone of something thats on our links page. There's a cracking folky alternative emag out there called Suitcase Orchestra, you should read it, they did a brilliant review of our album and they also have Facebook page so add them. I've discovered loads of great music through there and they usually have details on the next TKASG gigs in Middlesbrough which is useful, given they put the best gigs on EVER! Actually, here's TSKG's page as well, which is handy. James Posted on 11:32am Monday 9th Aug 2010 Bought the Arcade Fire album last week. Taken it in over the week and its fantastic. Not quite OK Computer like someone somewhere said last week.
Definitely potential for their best album though, if a few tracks too long.
Surely a top album album is between 9-12 tracks? or 30-45 minutes in length?
Not 16!!!
Think about it.
James Posted on 6:48am Monday 2nd Aug 2010 Thanks to everyone who came to the festival on Saturday, one of the best gig's i've done and a really big crowd to boot. The cobwebs are now off and we can concentrate on big sounds. hopefully we can get some gigs booked asap. There'll be a secret show end of the month so be in touch somehow if you fancy coming along. James Posted on 11:16am Sunday 18th Jul 2010 I've
never done a blog before... it'll be evident reading this...
