We also got our gig with Siskiyou (Great Lake Swimmers member) next friday (11.11.11), there's tickets here, so go buy!!

Well, it's been a memorable couple of weeks with some of my favourite bands (Radiohead, Elbow, PJ Harvey) all releasing brand spanking new albums; and we all know you're waiting with bated breath for our 2nd effort! But we've decided to keep you all hanging for just that little bit longer... Fear not, there will be something to look forward to in the next couple of weeks leading us into our April gig run and then, once we've road tested a few new tunes and got our act together, the long player will find its way... so keep your eyes peeled!
You can now also follow the band through the tweets of @brokenbroadcast and @gazgrizzo if you're that way inclined.
Until April then...

.... a quote from a recent review from www.thenorthernline.co.uk...

"THE BROKEN BROADCAST: Lush melodies, ambient sounds, reminded me a bit of Radiohead……….. it was all going so well until Strawberry Jam!!! The music is great but the lyrics need a severe overhauling!!!"

Not sure how shakespearian you can get on a strong about strawberry jam written for a 3 year old. but nevermind.

We recorded 'Strawberry Jam' and 'We're just Waiting For Our Friends' and we're putting them out on a limited numbered cdr at our Westgarth Gig with the Miserable Rich and Cattle and Cane

We're hoping some will be pleased to hear we're recording Strawberry Jam on Friday... Possibly fit another track too. I, for one, can't wait... It'll be the first chance I've had to beat James on the xbox while Emma records all the tracks!

It's been sick season in Camp Grizzo for the last week or so but the mandolin has proved a good pick-me-up. Just hope we can control that feedback and get it laid down in time!

As for other bandy news, well, it's ticking along nicely. James writes the kind of songs I've been writing in my head for years and Emma speaks fluent drum. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed the jamming and the gigs until this opportunity came along and so far it's been everything I could have hoped for. And more!

We're also sick of waiting for Radiohead to pull LP8 out of the studio so I think James is making up for it by writing new songs feverishly. Always a good thing. The studios an exciting escape and we're optimistic for what's to come.

I'll stop droning on now... Keep an eye out for more thoughts and news!

Thought i'd just remind everyone of something thats on our links page.

There's a cracking folky alternative emag out there called Suitcase Orchestra, you should read it, they did a brilliant review of our album and they also have Facebook page so add them.

I've discovered loads of great music through there and they usually have details on the next TKASG gigs in Middlesbrough which is useful, given they put the best gigs on EVER!

Actually, here's TSKG's page as well, which is handy.

Bought the Arcade Fire album last week. Taken it in over the week and its fantastic. Not quite OK Computer like someone somewhere said last week.

Definitely potential for their best album though, if a few tracks too long.

Surely a top album album is between 9-12 tracks? or 30-45 minutes in length?

Not 16!!!

Think about it.

I've never done a blog before... it'll be evident reading this...

Today's snippet comes live and direct from Grizzo in his dressing gown... having spent a good couple of hours sifting through the videos of yesterdays practice session.

They're not for public consumption, merely a practice aid on my part due to having a memory like a sieve... and it's working!

4 weeks to learn new songs from scratch and put them in some sort of public order ready for the old Fringe fest takes some doing.

I won't harp on too much. Things are really good right now. We're all itching to get the songs dusted off and present them to you in
Stockton. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy the polishing.

over and out

Whilst in prep for our Riverside Festival appearance, thought I'd share some current listenings.

- Think Tank, Blur
- Teen Dream, Beach House
- Veckatimest, Grizzly Bear
- The Man Who, Travis

Mostly transfixed by albums with white sleaves but ones where you don't have to skip tracks.

and/or albums that suit both summer and winter!
